Energy Efficiency Guides PDF Print E-mail

Rating StickerThe ‘bell-weather’ guide for power rating office equipment is that defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ENERGY STAR programme. Equipment that has qualified for the ENERGY STAR rating is designed to assist with the elimination of wasted energy through features which, not only reduce the ‘face-plate’ rating, but also provide users with tools to reduce power consumption when using it; for example, a facility to invoke a lower powered ‘sleep’ mode.  These standards have now been incorporated in the EU Energy Using Product programme directives, which the UK government has incorporated within their Quick Win standards for government procurement of ICT equipment.

For many organisations, an accurate assessment and analysis of their current power consumption is required in order to determine, when measuring against good practice, what changes can be effected to reduce their power bills and carbon footprints.
